Messerschmitt Me P.1092/3 Unicraft, Resin)

TYPE: Interceptor, Fighter, Fighter bomber. Project.

PERFORMANCE: 567 mph at 19,700 ft (estimated)

COMMENT: In May 1943, the Messerschmitt Company  began work on a series of fighter/Interceptor aircraft under the designation Me P.1092. The first design, the Messerschmitt Me P.1092A had single Junkers Jumo 004C turbojet and the P.1092B had a rocket engine.  The wings were basically the outer wing sections from the Messerschmitt Me 262, a butterfly tail and a tricycle landing gear arrangement were planned. In mid 1943, based on that design, a new series of derivatives were on the drawing boards, the Messerschmitt Me P.1092/2, Me P.1092/3, Me P.1092/4, and Me P.1092/5, respectively. All were of conventional design, as far as power unit, wings and tail arrangement as well as landing gear are concerned.


Blohm und Voss Bv. P.194.01-02 (Revell)

TYPE: Fighter, Dive bomber, Ground attack, and Reconnaissance aircraft. Project.


POWER PLANT: One BMW 801D engine, rated at 1,700 hp and one BMW 003 turbojet, rated at 800 kp

PERFORMANCE: 423 mph at 13,600 ft (estimated)

COMMENT: The Blohm & Voss Company had a great experience in designing asymmetrical aircraft as the Blohm  & Voss Bv 141,  Bv P.   176, Bv P.179, Bv P.204, and Bv P.237. In 1944 Blohm & Voss proposed new asymmetrical design to the RLM, which could be used as fighter, destroyer, dive bomber and reconnaissance, respectively. The design featured a mixed propulsion system with a piston engine in the main fuselage/ tail boom and a turbojet under a separated gondola that housed the cockpit.  The main advantage of that arrangement was an excellent and unobstructed view for the pilot and the reduction of torque moments along the vertical axis induced by the propeller of single engine aircraft. Several different designs were proposed, the Bv P.194.01-02, the Bv P.194.03-01, and the Bv P.194.00-101, changes regarding mainly in the layout of the turbojet engine. Due to the threatening defeat of Germany the Bv P.194 development was not pursued (Ref.: 16).

Dornier Do P.247/6 (Unicraft, Resin)

TYPE: Fighter/Fighter bomber. Project


POWER PLANT: One Junkers Jumo 213T, rated at 2,000 hp, driving four bladed pusher propeller

PERFORMANCE: 520 mph (estimated)

COMMENT: The excellent performance of the Dornier Do 335 Pfeil (Arrow) proceeded to several Dornier designs of pusher type fighters and fighter bombers. Among these is this Do P.247/6 project from autumn 1944. The swept back wing together with a powerful engine promised an excellent performance and the pusher type propeller offered an excellent visibility and allowed the installation of radar antennas for the adoption as a bad weather/night fighter. This project was never realized.

Junkers Schlachtflugzeug (Unicraft, Resin)

TYPE: Close Support Fighter Bomber.  Project


POWER PLANT: Daimler-Benz DB-ZTL 109-007 Bypass turbojet, rated at 1.150 kp each

PERFORMANCE: Not available

COMMENT: Project of a heavily armed jet aircraft from 1941. Pilot’s cockpit, engines and ammunition compartments were heavily armoured from underside. Due to lack of experience with nose landing gear on earth fields a nose skid was planned. Thrust deflecting flaps behind the exhausts allowed short take-off runs


Focke-Wulf Ta 154A1-R1 (Hasegawa)

TYPE: Fighter-bomber, close support aircraft

ACCOMMODATION: Pilot and observer/radio operator

POWER PLANT: Junkers Jumo 213E, rated at 1,750 h.p. each

PERFORMANCE:  332 m.p.h. at sea level

COMMENT: Projected close support fighter bomber on the basis of the Ta 154A-1. None built

Lippisch P.13-42 (Unicraft, Resin)

TYPE: High speed bomber, fighter bomber. Project


POWER PLANT: 2 x Daimler-Benz DB 605, rated  at 1,475 PS each

PERFORMANCE: Not available

COMMENT: This design for a tailless high-speed bomber is dated November 25, 1942 and originates from Dipl.-Ing. Josef Hubert, head of Lippisch’s aerodynamics section in Department “L”, as part of Messerschmitt Company. Two Daimler-Benz DB 605B engines provided power. One was mounted conventionally in the front of the fuselage the other was placed in the rear and drove a propeller via a short extension shaft.  The wings were swept back at approximately 18 degrees and 38 degrees. Since this was a tailless design, there were no horizontal tail planes but a single fin and rudder was set at the rear and extended slightly below the fuselage.  The two main landing gear legs were mounted near the wing’s leading edge, and retracted towards the fuselage. A single tail wheel retracted forward into the fuselage. The pilot sat in a cockpit placed midway along the fuselage. No armament was to be fitted at this stage, as it was felt the aircraft’s speed would be sufficient to prevent interception. As there was no internal bomb bay, the bomb load had to be carried externally. Although calculations were promising, this project remained on the drawing board (Ref. 16).

Junkers Ju-187 (Unicraft, Resin)

TYPE: Dive-bomber and close-support aircraft. Project

ACCOMMODATION: Pilot and rear gunner/observer

POWER PLANT: Junkers Jumo 213 A-1, rated at 1,750 h.p.

PERFORMANCE: Not available

COMMENT: Needed as replacement for the shortcoming Ju 87, the design was faster, better armored and had a greater bomb load. The most unusual feature was the movable tail fin. In order to clear the field of fire for the remote-controlled rear turret the whole tail plane could be turned downwards by 180 degree. Although a full sized mock-up was built the OKL preferred the Focke Wulf Fw 190 as close-support fighter bomber

Blohm und Voss Bv P.207-02 (Unicraft, Resin)

TYPE: Fighter bomber, ground support aircraft. Project


POWER PLANT: One Junkers Jumo 213 inline engine, rated at 1.800 hp

PERFORMANCE: Not available

COMMENT: This fighter design used a Junkers Jumo 213 buried in the fuselage just behind the cockpit. The air intake was located beneath the fuselage and the pusher propeller was driven by means of a long shaft. The rectangular wing was mounted at the bottom of the fuselage and had no sweep back or taper. The tail unit was of cruciform design and a tricycle undercarriage was fitted. Proposed armament was two MK 103 30mm cannon and two MG 151/20 20mm cannon located in the nose. A refined design was the Blohm & Voss Bv P.207/03 where the upper fin and rudder were deleted. But neither the BV P.207/2 or /3 proceeded past the design stage (Ref.: 16).

Blohm & Voss Bv. 237 (Unicraft, Resin)

TYPE: Dive bomber, ground attack fighter. Project

COMMENT: The Blohm & Voss Bv 237 was a proposed dive bomber with an unusual asymmetric design based on the Blohm & Voss Bv 141, as well as other projects like Bv P.194 and Bv P.204. In 1942 the Luftwaffe was interested in replacing the venerable but ageing Junkers Ju 87, and Dr. Richard Vogt’s design team at Blohm & Voss  began work on project P 177. The dive bomber version would have had a one man crew and was heavily armed with cannon, machine gun and bombs. A two seat ground attack version was also proposed. A final B-1 type was to incorporate a Junkers Jumo 004B  turbojet engine in a third nacelle slung underneath the wing, between the piston engine and the cockpit. In early 1943 a production order was issued for the P 177 now called the Bv 237. In the summer that year the RLM ordered all developmental work stopped. Work continued later and it was determined that construction could begin in mid 1945, but plans for a pre-production A-0 series were abandoned, leaving the project at the pre-production stage near the end of 1944, with only a wooden mock-up completed (Ref.: 23).
